NAMIBIA

Namibia is a fantastic country for walking, there are areas of amazing beauty that are well away from the mainstream tourist conga line that does cover big areas of southern Africa. Much of this is due to a very low population density of the country - 2 persons /square km - only Greenland, the western Sahara and Mongolia have lower densities. This is particularly apparent in the arid northwest and northeast regions of the country, beautiful scenery combined with no one around - the perfect walking world!!
These arid regions of Namibia offer some of the best authentic and intense cultural walking safari experiences in Africa south of the equator. It is possible to head out into the bush and experience a hunter/gather lifestyle that is bordering on a near perfect iron age re-creation.
Due to the arid conditions, the wildlife concentrations are lower than in other areas of Africa. This does make game seem scarce, however the diversity is always inspiring. We don't feel that Namibia is ideal for a first safari holiday in Africa, unless combined with a safari in one of the game rich areas of the region.
