The Skeleton Coast concession of Namibia, inside the Skeleton Coast National Park is one of the most remote areas in southern Africa. With the combination of the Benguela current and the onshore southwesterly winds delivering flotsam to the beaches continually - the beach walking is fantastic, with organic and inorganic objects of interest everywhere.

DESERT TO WAVES TRAIL: rated EXCELLENT

The walking safari trail is Marc Durr's brainchild - to walk from his Tok Tokkie base camp in the Namib Rand Nature Reserve - through the dunes to the Atlantic Ocean and the cold Benguela current. This safari trail is for the fit purist walker - walker carry all their own kit through the dune corridors to the coast.
